Dragonmead Under the Kilt

7.8% ABV, Bottle

Appearance: Dark copper color, with a small white head.
Aroma: A bit boozy, caramel, vanilla, roasted malt.
Taste: Some sourness, with flavors of fruit (specifically cherry and apple) and caramel. Very unexpected from the aroma.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with small carbonation.

Dragonmead’s Under the Kilt Wee Heavy is a Scottish ale — but it seems to take things to a whole new level. While malts are certainly present in the aroma and flavor of this beer, I’d almost consider this brew to be more of a sour than anything else. Its flavors of cherry, apple and caramel blend together to create a somewhat light sour profile, which is both refreshing and unique.
